When your parents are the highest paid celebrity couple in the world, you come to expect a bit more than chocolate cake and a few balloons for your birthday. Yes, even if youre 1. Blue Ivy Carter,...
05:39 PM on 01/15/2013 I guess raising her to be a well rounded individual is out. That is why I had a thumbs up for Katie Holmes when she took her child out of that life. Kids need to understand and process all aspects growing up..not just the rich life Money can get wiped away very quickly and then what does that leave? A whiny woman who no man wants because she turns out to be a gold digger. Bey and Jay should for next year just have something small..give all gifts to the unfortunate kids..and make sure little Blue sees things like that..

10:16 AM on 01/15/2013 $200,000 for a 1 year-olds birthday party? That makes perfect sense--and so tasteful too! I dont care how much $ they have, this is obsene. The kid had better have a strong character and a good head on her shoulders, or she will grow up to be a terror or a total mess.
One way to keep the first little ladies out of the limelight is for them to look normally boring and not ostentatious.

12:09 PM on 01/16/2013 Cant wait until we hear about the little one using one of those first additions for a coloring book and teaching Diamond Barbie how to swim off the Yacht. But, seriously, do you think that kid will ever get to read or play with these toys? Probably a good investment for her future.

The rich have been doing this stuff forever, nothing new. Its those who are spending beyond their means that I give the side-eye to.

10:25 AM on 01/15/2013 Its their money, they worked HARD for it. They can spend it however they want. stop watching celebs pockets.
Nothings been too big or expensive for their little princess, a source told The Sun. They wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life. They work hard for their money and the first thing they want to spend it on is their baby girl.
10:08 AM on 01/15/2013 BEYONCE N JAY ARE IN COMPETITION and they are both show offs... its thereir money yes... but a child do grow st... and what are they trying to prove for those who are struggling...NOTHING. they are so materialistic and self inflicted...I wonder what will become of blue after this.... no one is jealous...but they are those in need of desperate help ...and blue gets a party worth of 200k ... i think its ridBirthday Giftsiculous... smh
Bey and Jay are not the first doting parents to pamper their little one with lavish gifts. From ncy cars to renting out an ice rink, celebrity moms and dads love to spend on their little ones. But given that Blue Ivy is too young to understand what shes got, we wonder what to expect when she grows up.

12:27 PM on 01/15/2013 If the parents of this child were non black these comments would be a lot different. You guys act as if theyre taking money from your pockets. Get a life I beg of you...
According to The Sun, the luckiest girl in the world got a custom-made $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. An additional $95,000 went on pink and white roses (blue ivy must be out of season); $30,000 went on costumes, jewelry, and toys for baby Blue Ivys friends and their parents; and of course, you cant have a party without a cake -- a $2,400 cake, that is.

4 seconds ago ( 1:50 PM) Wow. These comments are brutal. They can spend their money how they want. Stop complaining because you dont have any money. Get a job, work hard and invest! Stop worrying about what other people do with their money.
09:52 AM on 01/15/2013 What are they trying to do? Raise a Paris Hilton. Try raising a Michelle Obama! For $80,000 by the baby a library of rare first edition childrens books and some new children books that can get handled and worn. Their are plenty of delightful board books for 1 year olds. Carl The Dog is a classic. Picture books! Picture books! But it is their child if they want to raise a Paris Hilton, their choice! And I hope she will have her mothers looks else she will really hate that Barbie if she takes after JayZ. Maybe they should have brought a diamond encrusted Cabbage Patch Doll?

Aside from the $1 million a year nursery the power couple has for their girl at the Barclays Center, they reportedly spent $200,000 -- although we wouldnt be surprised if this number was slightly inflated -- on her first birthday party.

01:09 PM on 01/15/2013 The thing is, if they have bought the baby $80K worth of books, reporters dont think its worth writing about.

03:36 PM on 01/15/2013 While I think its excessive, they are filthy rich. This is a drop in the bucket for them. I frown my nose at thousandnaires who spend 1k,2K or more on their kids first bday party. That is what is really ridiculous to me. Or regular folks who go overboard for Sweet Sixteens as a result of that show on MTV.
